We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Cable Jointer to join our field crew on fibre and NBN network projects. You will install, joint, test and maintain fibre optic cable infrastructure from network plans, safely and to a high standard. Key responsibilities
- Fusion splicing and jointing of fibre optic cables
- Building, installing and sealing joints on Local Fibre Network (LFN) and Distribution Fibre Network (DFN) infrastructure
- Testing and fault-finding using OTDR, power meters and other test equipment, and recording results
- Rod and rope, and cable hauling through pit and pipe networks
- Reading and interpreting network plans, design drawings and technical manuals
- Operating vacuum excavation equipment and using power tools safely
- Setting up and implementing traffic management on site
- Completing safety documentation, site clean-up and reinstatement
- Supporting and guiding less experienced team members
Skills and experience
- Certificate III or higher in Telecommunications, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience
- Minimum 1 year hands-on experience
- Experience with cable hauling and pit and pipe work
- Ability to read and interpret network plans and test results
- Safety-focused, reliable team player
Licences and certifications
- White Card (Construction Induction)
- First Aid and CPR
- Current Driver’s Licence
- National Police Check
- Traffic Management Implementation (QLD)
