We're REA. With bold and ambitious goals, REA Group is changing the way the world experiences property. Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact.

Where the team fits in: Launchpad is part of Global Technology and creates/procures/manages products and capabilities that help REA’s technology teams work more effectively, safely and efficiently.

The Senior Product Manager - FinOps owns the FinOps product capability and FinOps support processes: the products, insights, controls and ways of working that help REA make informed decisions about cloud and technology spend.

This role has two connected responsibilities:

  • Delivering FinOps as a productised capability, through experiences such as FinOut dashboards, cost insights in Realm and budget-limit alerting, as well as the roadmap of future capabilities.
  • Supporting the holistic financial operations of REA’s cloud spend, in partnership with Finance and technology stakeholders, through guidance, analysis, forecasting, governance and savings initiatives.

What the role is all about:

  • Own and continuously evolve the FinOps product vision, strategy, roadmap, prioritisation and backlog in line with REA’s technology and financial goals.
  • Lead discovery with engineering, product, finance, procurement and business stakeholders to understand needs, pain points and opportunities.
  • Deliver and improve productised FinOps capabilities, including FinOut dashboards, cost insights in Realm and budget-limit alerting.
  • Define the product outcomes, measures and adoption approach for FinOps capabilities; use data and feedback to improve their value and experience.
  • Make cloud cost information clear, trusted and actionable for different audiences, from engineers and product teams through to technology and finance leaders.
  • Provide guidance and subject-matter expertise on cloud cost management, optimisation and responsible resource usage across REA’s cloud environments.
  • Partner with Finance on cloud spend reporting including AI, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and other financial operations.
  • Identify, prioritise, coordinate and track cloud savings opportunities, including usage optimisation, rightsizing, commitment management and other relevant commercial or technical levers.
  • Establish and improve governance, standards and guardrails for cost allocation, ownership, tagging, budgets, alerts and resource lifecycle management.
  • Help teams understand the financial impact of technology decisions and embed cost considerations into planning, architecture and delivery practices.
  • Build strong relationships with cloud providers, FinOps tooling vendors and internal partners to maximise the value of REA’s technology investments.
  • Retain strategic oversight of software and SaaS optimisation, working with Finance, Procurement, Legal, Risk and technology stakeholders to improve usage, commercial outcomes and lifecycle decisions for material products and services.
  • Communicate progress, risks, insights and recommendations clearly, and influence outcomes without relying on formal authority.

Who we’re looking for:

  • An experienced product manager who can own an internal technology product from discovery through to delivery, adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Someone who combines product thinking with strong commercial, analytical and financial acumen.
  • A pragmatic FinOps practitioner who can move comfortably between detailed cloud cost data and the strategic decisions it informs.
  • Someone who can turn complex financial and technical information into simple, useful experiences, recommendations and actions.
  • A collaborative partner who can work effectively with engineers, architects, product managers, finance professionals, procurement specialists, executives and vendors.
  • A confident communicator and influencer who can build alignment, challenge constructively and create momentum across a distributed organisation.
  • Someone who is comfortable operating with ambiguity, shaping a new or evolving capability and taking end-to-end ownership for outcomes.
  • A person who is motivated by helping teams make better decisions, not just by producing reports or reducing cost in isolation.

The physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we’ll never stop caring about. This is a place to learn and grow.

Some of our Perks & Benefits include:

  • A hybrid and flexible approach to working.
  • Flexible leave options including birthday leave and purchase additional leave.
  • Flexible parental leave offering for primary and secondary carers.
  • Our Because We Care program offers employees volunteering leave, community grants, matched payroll giving and our Community Café donates 100% of revenue to charity.
  • Hackdays so you can bring your big ideas to life.

We are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe teams with diverse ideas and experiences are more creative, more effective and fuel disruptive thinking.

If you've got the skills, dedication and enthusiasm to learn but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch.
