About the Opportunity

Looking for a rewarding nursing role where you can make a lasting impact on patients' recovery while enjoying the support of a close-knit rural healthcare team? Wingham Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in a Permanent Full-Time position, with job share arrangements considered for the right applicants.

Set in a beautiful rural location, Wingham Rehabilitation Hospital provides a welcoming and collaborative environment where nurses, medical officers, allied health professionals, HealthShare staff and security work together to deliver exceptional person-centred care. Our service takes a planned and holistic approach to rehabilitation, supporting patients on their journey from acute care back into the community and helping them regain independence, confidence and quality of life.

What You Will Be Doing

Wingham Rehabilitation Hospital provides inpatient care for up to 16 patients, alongside outpatient and hydrotherapy services. As a Registered Nurse, you will work closely with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to develop and support individual rehabilitation goals. You will provide high-quality nursing care while promoting recovery, independence and positive health outcomes.

You will utilise a broad range of clinical skills including care planning, medication management, wound care, clinical documentation and patient safety initiatives such as falls prevention, pressure injury management and manual handling practices. Working alongside Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing, you will contribute to the day-to-day operation of the unit and provide leadership and coordination of the facility during after-hours shifts. This role requires a confident clinician with sound clinical judgement who can assess, prioritise and respond appropriately to changing patient conditions while working collaboratively with available escalation pathways.

About You

You are an experienced Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a collaborative rehabilitation environment where holistic, person-centred care is the priority. You thrive on building meaningful relationships with patients, supporting them through recovery and celebrating their progress. Our ideal candidate will have recent acute or sub-acute nursing experience within an Australian hospital and be confident working independently. Given there is no onsite after-hours support, you will demonstrate strong clinical assessment skills, sound decision-making, and the ability to safely manage patient care and lead the team during after-hours shifts.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients.
  • A commitment to safe, evidence-based and person-centred care.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a supportive team culture.

Essential requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Recent acute or sub-acute nursing experience within an Australian hospital.
  • Demonstrated ability to work confidently and autonomously during after-hours shifts.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, communication and leadership skills.

What we can offer you:

  • Be rewarded with up to $10,000 in the first 12 months PLUS up to $5,000 each year thereafter in fortnightly payments under the Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
  • Opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Sustainable Healthcare: Together towards zero.
  • Monthly Allocated Days Off (for full-time employees).
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part time employees).
  • Paid parental leave (for eligible employees) - giving you the opportunity for true Worklife balance.
  • Salary packaging options - up to $11,600 plus novated leasing.
  • Fitness Passport for health and well-being - discounted gym options for you and your family.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members.
  • The Welcome Experience helps you and your family connect with local people and resources, making it easier to settle in and feel at home in your new community.
