Are you a site-focused Construction Manager or Commissioning Lead who excels at pulling together complex brownfield construction packages, managing live-plant interfaces, and driving safe, flawless system startups?

Join a nationally recognised leader in heavy industrial manufacturing and building materials as we deliver a flagship capital transformation program at our major processing facility in the Southern Highlands, NSW.

As part of a multi-million-dollar capital upgrade program focused on plant modernisation and sustainable technology integration, we are seeking a practical, delivery-minded Construction Manager - Site Integration & Commissioning for a 18 month fixed-term contract.

Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager - Capital Projects, you will take total ownership of late-stage construction completion, multi-package system integration, staged tie-ins, energisation, and operational commissioning.

Operating within a contractor-based delivery model, you will bridge the gap between engineering construction and live site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Integration & Commissioning

Leadership: Lead site integration and commissioning across Alternative Fuels and Alternative Raw Materials project workstreams, ensuring all equipment, power, and process systems are ready for testing, energisation, and operational handover.

  • Shutdown & Tie-In

Coordination: Plan, sequence, and manage critical brownfield shutdowns, staged physical tie-ins, energisation routines, system startup, and initial plant ramp-up without disrupting ongoing baseline production.

  • Multidisciplinary
  • Interface

Management: Drive daily operational alignment across mechanical, electrical, process, and PLC/SCADA control system interfaces, working closely with Package Project Managers, Site Operations, and Engineering teams.

  • Punch-Listing & Quality Close-Out: Oversee construction completion, drive punch-list completions, manage defect resolution, and verify all commissioning documentation, procedures, and safety sign-offs ahead of operational turnover.
  • Contractor & Site

Execution: Manage daily site activities and work sequencing across multiple tier-1 and specialist contractors, resolving site execution conflicts and driving contractor accountability.

  • Safety

Leadership: Enforce strict compliance with site safety standards, Permit-to-Work (PTW) protocols, isolation procedures, and high-risk activity planning (energisation, hot works, lifting, working at heights) across all contractor teams.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a hands-on, proactive construction professional who thrives in fast-paced brownfield environments and possesses the authority and practical problem-solving ability to guide multiple contractors through critical commissioning windows.

  • Experience: Minimum 5-10 years' experience in construction management, commissioning, or capital project delivery within heavy industry, continuous process manufacturing, mining, steel, cement, or heavy industrial infrastructure.
  • Brownfield Expertise: Proven track record leading site execution, staged tie-ins, plant shutdowns, energisation, and commissioning in live operating facilities.
  • Contractor

Management: Demonstrated capability coordinating multiple concurrent trade contractors and specialist equipment vendors across complex physical and operational interfaces.

  • Technical Depth: Solid understanding of heavy mechanical handling systems, high/low voltage power distribution, piping/ductwork tie-ins, and PLC/SCADA control system integration.
  • Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or Civil/Construction) or an equivalent technical/trade background with extensive industrial commissioning leadership experience in Australia is highly regarded.
  • Mindset: Exceptional communication, clear decision-making under operational constraints, and an uncompromising commitment to Zero Harm safety leadership.

This is offered as a 18 month fixed term contract.

You will join an experienced & knowledgeable leadership group who have sign off to take on two Construction Managers for the capital projects business unit.

At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
