Are you an experienced Planner, Case Manager, or Safeguarding Specialist who wants to make a meaningful national impact by supporting and protecting vulnerable individuals in our community?

I am currently partnering with a prominent federal government agency in the disability sector with several exciting opportunities within the Safeguarding Advisory Team (SAT).

About the Opportunity

As the APS6 Planner within the Safeguarding Advisory Team, you provide specialised guidance, technical knowledge, and operational support on complex participant issues. Working under a case management framework, you will assess sensitive circumstances, deliver evidence-based safeguarding advice, and liaise with key external bodies—such as regulatory commissions and state/territory authorities to coordinate critical safeguarding actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gathering information and conducting risk identification and assessments for complex, sensitive participant circumstances.
  • Delivering clear, evidence-based written and verbal specialised safeguarding advice, recommendations, and pathways for staff supporting at-risk participants.
  • Working directly with participants who require urgent and short-term safeguarding interventions under a case management model.
  • Exercising sound initiative and judgement to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy, and procedural guidelines.
  • Facilitating discussions and engaging stakeholders across internal teams and external statutory bodies.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and guiding team members, monitoring workflow capacity, and championing continuous service delivery improvements.

Ideally you will Possess

  • Risk Assessment & Analysis: Demonstrated ability to assess complex, sensitive information, identify key risks, and develop robust, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Exceptional Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with proven capability in drafting clear, concise, and well-reasoned advice and handling sensitive, confronting conversations with empathy.
  • Legislative & Policy Acumen: Ability to interpret and apply statutory frameworks, government guidelines, and operational procedures with high integrity and discretion.
  • Workload & Case Management: Strong organisational skills with the agility to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and shifting demands in a dynamic environment.
  • Desirable Experience: Prior experience in the disability sector or government operating environment, familiarity with safeguarding principles/practices, experience with CRM/PACE systems, or background developing operational guidance and procedural frameworks.
  • Eligibility & Clearances: Australian Citizenship is required. You must hold—or have the ability to obtain—a Baseline AGSVA security clearance and a current Worker Screening Check.

PLEASE NOTE: You Must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for this position
