About The Role
Can you turn complex operational updates into messaging that resonates with everyone from executive leadership to frontline bus drivers and rail engineers?
We are an established multi-modal land passenger transport operator running essential scheduled bus networks, light and heavy rail corridors, point-to-point fleets, and depot engineering hubs. Keeping cities and communities moving requires a connected, informed, and engaged workforce across both office desks and operational depots.
We are looking for an experienced Internal Communications Lead to own our employee engagement and operational storytelling on an ongoing contract basis (guaranteed through at least the end of January 2027).
What You’ll Do
- Drive the Comms Strategy: Own the internal narrative across our regional transport hubs, network control centres, maintenance depots, and corporate offices.
- Engage a Distributed Frontline: Craft and deliver punchy, accessible comms for non-desk, shift-based transport staff using mobile apps, digital depot signage, printed toolbox talk guides, and SMS channels.
- Champion Safety & Transformation: Translate key business milestones—including zero-emission fleet rollouts, depot electrification, telematics upgrades, and safety campaigns—into practical, engaging campaigns.
- Support Senior Leadership: Ghostwrite executive announcements, script quarterly town halls, and produce monthly operational performance roundups.
- Channel Management: Oversee our intranet, internal newsletter cadence, and campaign analytics to continually lift engagement.
What You’ll Bring
- Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Journalism is essential.
- Relevant Experience: 5+ years in internal communications, ideally within transport, rail, logistics, aviation, construction, or a similarly fast-paced industrial environment.
- Frontline Fluency: A natural ability to cut through corporate jargon and write clear, relatable copy for a diverse, shift-working team.
- Tech Savvy: Hands-on experience with modern internal comms tools (SharePoint/intranets, workforce engagement apps, digital signage systems, and EDM platforms).
- Stakeholder Management: Confidence collaborating with senior leadership while remaining grounded and approachable for depot managers and operational crews.
What’s on Offer
- Daily Rate: $700 – $900/day + Superannuation.
- Contract Stability: Ongoing tenure secured with a minimum engagement through to the end of January 2027.
- Real Purpose: Work on communications that directly support frontline staff keeping thousands of commuters moving safely every day.
