Q

Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service supports people across Central Queensland who are experiencing mental health challenges or concerns with alcohol and other drug use. Through a network of inpatient, community and outreach services, the team provides specialised care closer to home, helping people navigate difficult times and improve their health and wellbeing.

With services spanning Rockhampton, Gladstone, Yeppoon, Emerald, Blackwater, Biloela and surrounding communities, the team also works to reduce alcohol and drug-related harm while supporting clients, their families and the wider community.

About the role:

  • Deliver specialist clinical nursing care to clients experiencing alcohol and other drug-related concerns, including screening, assessment, brief intervention and referral.
  • Apply clinical judgement and evidence-based practice to provide individualised care, with support from the Clinical Nurse Consultant and senior nursing team.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, consumers, families and external agencies to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Promote prevention, early intervention, health education and harm reduction strategies to improve health outcomes across the community.
  • Contribute to service improvement, research, clinical education and ongoing professional development to strengthen AOD service delivery.

About you:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse is essential; Postgraduate qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs or Advanced Nursing Practice are desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Experience in AOD services would be an advantage, however training is provided.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, case management and delivering safe, increasingly complex nursing care.
  • Strong time management, prioritisation and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to support continuity of care and contribute to service improvement.
