Queensland Glass is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team on a full-time basis at our Lytton, QLD location. This is a strategic position that will drive the design vision and creative direction across our product and service offerings. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how our glass solutions are conceived, developed, and brought to market. The Design Manager will oversee the creative team, manage design projects from conception through to delivery, and ensure that our designs meet both aesthetic and functional requirements whilst maintaining alignment with business objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design team, providing direction, mentorship and performance feedback to ensure high-quality design outputs
- Develop and implement design strategies that align with company objectives and market demand
- Oversee the complete design process, from initial concept development through to final production specifications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, engineering, and sales to ensure designs are commercially viable and technically sound
- Manage design budgets and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within allocated resources
- Establish and maintain design standards and best practices across all projects
- Conduct design reviews and quality assessments to ensure compliance with specifications and brand guidelines
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to inform design innovation
- Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders and clients, effectively communicating design rationale and value propositions
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and workflows
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture, or a related discipline
- Minimum 7+ years of professional design experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership capacity
- Proven experience in product or architectural design, preferably within the glass, building materials, or construction industries
- Strong proficiency in design software and CAD applications (such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools)
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop creative teams
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production constraints, particularly in glass fabrication
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts to diverse audiences
- Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and compliance requirements in the construction and glass industries
- Strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking with a focus on practical, implementable solutions
- Experience in budget management and cost control
