At Michael Hill, we're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to lead financial accounting, reporting and asset related activities across our Group Services and asset management functions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, driving process improvements and providing meaningful commercial insights.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Finance Manager – Corporate, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting business performance across the Group.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading month-end reporting processes for Group Services and asset accounting
- Manage the reporting and analysis of Group capital expenditure (Capex), providing insights on budget performance and variances.
- Reviewing financial results and providing insightful variance analysis
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls
- Partnering with project leaders and stakeholders to drive accurate project costing and financial management
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Providing technical accounting guidance relating to assets and Saa S arrangements
- Coordinating audit requirements and statutory reporting activities
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes
- Mentoring and supporting direct reports while fostering a collaborative team culture
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a commercially minded finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships.
You'll bring
- CPA or CA qualification
- Degree in Accounting or a related discipline
- 5+ years' accounting experience
- Strong financial reporting and general ledger experience
- Sound knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
- Experience managing balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- Experience working with ERP systems, with Dynamics 365 highly regarded
