PYBAR – a Thiess Company, is a mining services provider with core competencies in underground hard rock mining. With origins dating back to 1993, our success is based on safe, rapid underground development and consistent, reliable production. We deliver a range of projects, from large established mining operations to greenfield developments across Australia.

THE OPPORTUNITY

PYBAR is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our Finance team based at our Head Office in Orange. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with both finance and operational teams, providing meaningful financial insights that support business performance and decision‑making across our national operations.

As part of a small, collaborative accounting team, you will gain exposure to a broad range of management accounting activities while playing an integral role in supporting the company's continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, analysing financial performance, and contributing to process improvements within a dynamic and fast‑paced mining services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, and variance analysis to support business performance.
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end reporting processes.
  • Develop financial reports, analysis, and models to support operational and capital expenditure decisions.
  • Manage accounts receivable and support cash flow performance across the business.
  • Ensure accurate financial records are maintained and statutory reporting obligations are met, including BAS preparation.
  • Partner with operational and corporate stakeholders to provide financial insights, support, and advice.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and compliance across the organisation.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by the Finance Manager.

About You

We're looking for a motivated and commercially minded professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders. You will be a strong communicator with excellent analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and a genuine desire to learn, develop, and contribute to the continued success of the business.

You take ownership of your work, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and are always looking for opportunities to improve processes, drive efficiencies, and deliver positive business outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Experience working within the mining, contracting, or resources sector;
  • Demonstrated experience extracting, analysing, and reporting data from ERP systems, ideally within a labour‑intensive or service‑based environment;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to interpret and present complex data;
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills;
  • Well‑developed commercial acumen and a commitment to delivering value‑driven outcomes;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

You will also hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline, together with 2-3 years' post‑graduate experience.

Why PYBAR?

At PYBAR, we are committed to delivering the best people and the best performance across our projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to take your career to the next level in a rewarding and dynamic industry.
