The opportunity
This is a chance to take genuine ownership of the finance function as the business's in-house accountant, reporting directly to the Managing Director in a business where your work is seen and valued every day. You'll step into modern, well-implemented systems rather than a clean-up project and with strategic advice already handled by external advisers, you can focus on what you do best, which is running accurate, reliable finances the business can depend on.
Your responsibilities will include:
Full ownership of accounts payable and accounts receivable
Payroll for the team, along with some light HR administration
BAS preparation and lodgement, plus support with year-end and tax alongside the external accountants
Cash flow forecasting and cash management, with clear and consistent reporting to the MD
Close collaboration with the operations team on stock and supplier matters
Scope to develop the business's Power BI reporting over time
About you
Experience matters more than anything else here. You'll bring a minimum of 5+ years in finance, including a couple of years in a full-function role as the senior finance person in an SME and you'll be confident running the books end to end without supervision.
CA or CPA qualified is welcome, though not essential
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power BI is highly regarded
A manufacturing, industrial or family business background will help, although candidates from a range of sectors are encouraged to apply
Strong attention to detail and the flexibility to juggle competing priorities in a small team
Above all, you're a safe pair of hands who takes pride in accurate, reliable work and can hit the ground running with minimal training.
