General Manager – Clinical Research | Australia
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Manager to lead the Australian operations of an established and growing clinical research organisation.
Our client is seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded leader to oversee national operations, drive financial performance and support the continued expansion of its Australian clinical research network.
Reporting directly to the Group Chief Operating Officer, this position offers significant responsibility across operational delivery, P&L management, business growth and senior stakeholder engagement.
The Opportunity
As General Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the performance, growth and development of the Australian business.
Working closely with the Group executive team, you will lead a network of clinical research operations, develop high-performing leadership teams and ensure the organisation continues to deliver high-quality clinical trials while achieving its commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple Australian clinical research sites.
Take ownership of national P&L performance, budgets, forecasting and operational profitability.
Develop and execute business strategies to drive sustainable revenue growth and operational excellence.
Lead, mentor and develop senior operational leaders, fostering a high-performance culture.
Oversee clinical trial delivery, ensuring operational efficiency, quality and regulatory compliance.
Strengthen relationships with pharmaceutical sponsors, CROs, investigators and strategic partners.
Support business expansion initiatives, including new site development, operational integration and potential acquisitions.
Drive continuous improvement across workforce productivity, resource allocation and organisational performance.
Collaborate with the Group executive team on strategic planning and investment priorities.
About You
We are seeking an accomplished leader with a strong background in clinical research operations or a comparable regulated healthcare environment.
To be successful, you will bring:
Significant senior leadership experience within clinical research, clinical operations or healthcare services.
Demonstrated experience managing multi-site operations and leading senior management teams.
Strong commercial acumen, including P&L ownership, budgeting and financial performance management.
A solid understanding of clinical trial delivery, ICH-GCP and Australian regulatory requirements.
Proven experience driving business growth, operational improvements and organisational change.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with sponsors, CROs and executive leadership teams.
Experience supporting business expansion, site development or acquisitions would be highly regarded.
