Livestock Handler, Receiving Yards
Around $65,000 | Permanent, full time | Immediate start
If you’ve drenched, drafted and moved sheep or goats on a farm or station, this is that work, five days a week.
The work
You’ll receive livestock into the yards at a Mildura meat processor, look after animal welfare, and work sheep, goats and small stock through the yards. You’ll also be trained in skin classing. It’s a processing site, so you’ll be working around slaughter. We’d rather you know that now than on day one.
What you’ll need
- Farm or station experience, and confidence around sheep and goats
- Reliability, fitness and no problem with early starts
- Basic reporting skills, as there’s some reporting on the job
- Animal welfare accreditation is handy but not essential, because training is provided
The business wants to grow its future supervisors from the yards up. If you’ve got the attitude to learn, there’s a real path here, plus a trade skill in skin classing.
The details
- Day shift, around 6am to 3pm, Monday to Friday
- Around $65,000, with a small amount of overtime built in
- Immediate start if you’re immunised against Q fever. If you’re not, it takes about two weeks to arrange, and the pre‑employment medical is organised for you.
