Year 7 & 8 English Tutor in Melbourne

Pre-Uni New College Oakleigh is seeking a dedicated Year 7 & 8 English Tutor to join our tutoring team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for education students, graduates, or experienced educators to gain valuable tutoring experience whilst supporting students in their English studies. Based in Oakleigh VIC 3166, this role offers flexibility and the chance to make a real difference in young learners' academic development.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and tailored English tuition to Year 7 and Year 8 students, focusing on literacy, comprehension, writing and communication skills.
• Assess student progress and identify areas requiring additional support or challenge.
• Provide constructive feedback to students on their written work.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic achievements.
• Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities.

What we’re looking for:

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a teaching degree, education qualification, or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Strong knowledge of English language, literature and grammar at secondary level.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to explain concepts clearly and engage young learners.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting student learning.
• Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience working with secondary students is preferred but not essential.
• Familiarity with the Victorian curriculum is advantageous.
