Ppl People are proud to partner with a growing Brisbane-based builder specialising in luxury custom homes and boutique townhouse developments valued from $1.2M upwards. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join a business in its early stages of growth, with the opportunity to lead and build your own carpentry team.

Unlike a traditional Leading Hand position, you'll have genuine ownership over your crew, managing scheduling, quality, materials and day-to-day carpentry works, while still remaining hands-on with the tools. With plans to grow the carpentry team from four to seven over the next 12 months, you'll play an important role in shaping the team, with a clear progression pathway into a Site Supervisor role.

The Role

  • Working alongside the Site Supervisors, you'll take responsibility for managing the carpentry team across luxury custom homes and boutique townhouse developments.
  • You'll oversee scheduling, material ordering, quality assurance and team performance, ensuring works are delivered to a high standard and on program.
  • This is a hands-on leadership position, where you'll balance running the crew with working on the tools alongside your team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and coordinating the carpentry team across multiple residential construction projects.
  • Working alongside Site Supervisors to plan and schedule carpentry works.
  • Remaining hands-on with carpentry works across luxury custom homes and boutique townhouses.
  • Managing material orders, labour allocation and daily team priorities.
  • Overseeing quality assurance and ensuring works meet the required standards.
  • Training and mentoring apprentices and supporting the development of your team.
  • Identifying and resolving on-site challenges to keep projects moving.
  • Helping recruit, develop and grow the carpentry team as the business expands.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Carpenter or Leading Hand who takes pride in delivering high-quality residential construction projects and enjoys leading others. Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Experience in residential construction, ideally custom homes, high-end residential or townhouse developments.
  • Previous experience as a Leading Hand, or a skilled Carpenter ready to step into a leadership position.
  • Strong understanding of carpentry programming, material ordering and quality control.
  • The ability to lead, mentor and hold a team accountable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Certificate III in Carpentry, White Card and driver's licence.

More important than your job title is your ability to lead by example, take ownership and maintain high standards across your projects.

What's In It For You?

  • Salary $120,000 – $140,000 + Super (or on negotiation).
  • Company fuel card and work phone provided.
  • Work on luxury custom homes and boutique townhouses valued from $1.2M+.
  • Lead and grow your own carpentry team, expanding to seven people.
  • Genuine autonomy over scheduling, material ordering and team coordination.
  • A great balance of hands-on carpentry and leadership responsibilities.
  • Opportunity to mentor apprentices and develop your own team.
  • Clear career progression into a Site Supervisor role.
  • Join a growing Brisbane builder with exciting plans for expansion.
  • Standard 40-hour working week.
  • Immediate start available.
