We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Retail & Sales Assistant to join the team at Poolwerx Rockhampton. This is a casual position based in Gladstone, QLD, and the applicant must be available to work Saturdays and Summer holidays.
As a Retail & Sales Assistant, you will be the face of our business, delivering exceptional customer service whilst supporting the day-to-day retail operations. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment for our customers and driving sales through knowledgeable product recommendations and genuine engagement.
What you'll be doing:
- Greeting customers with a warm, professional demeanour and assisting them with product enquiries and purchases.
- Providing expert advice on pool maintenance products, equipment and services to help customers find the right solutions.
- Processing sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handling cash and card payments responsibly.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and visually appealing retail environment by restocking shelves and arranging displays.
- Building relationships with regular customers to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty.
- Assisting with inventory management, including stock counting and reporting on product levels.
- Supporting promotional activities and campaigns to help drive sales and awareness.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent customer experiences.
What we're looking for:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- A genuine enthusiasm for retail and sales, with a customer-first mindset.
- Basic numeracy skills and competence with point-of-sale systems (training will be provided).
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied hours including weekends if required.
- Physical capability to lift and move stock items safely.
- Prior retail or customer service experience is advantageous but not essential; we are willing to train the right candidate.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn about pool maintenance products and industry knowledge.
