Police Bank is one of Australia's fastest growing Mutual Banks. We are a progressive, purpose-driven financial institution, and we pride ourselves on offering a competitive range of financial products and services, all of which have been created with the needs of our members at front of mind.

This is a hands-on role where you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact on the Bank's cyber security environment. You'll work across identity, endpoint, network and cloud security, helping us strengthen our security posture, uplift our detection and response capabilities, and continue embedding Zero Trust principles across the organisation.

You'll be joining a collaborative environment where cyber security works closely with Technology, Projects and Risk, giving you plenty of opportunity to get involved in meaningful security initiatives rather than simply keeping the lights on.

What will you be doing?

  • Designing, implementing and improving cyber security solutions across the Bank
  • Strengthening identity and access controls in line with Zero Trust principles
  • Enhancing data protection capabilities across Microsoft 365 and enterprise platforms, including DLP and data classification
  • Developing and maintaining detection use cases across SIEM, EDR and network detection technologies
  • Supporting cloud security controls and secure-by-design reviews for new solutions and projects
  • Investigating and responding to security incidents and helping implement corrective actions
  • Improving network and system resilience, including segmentation, access controls and firewall configurations
  • Supporting the introduction of automated security response capabilities through SOAR
  • Helping ensure our security controls remain aligned with CPS 234, NIST CSF and Essential Eight
  • Contributing to emerging areas such as data and AI security

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, naturally curious and enjoys getting hands-on to solve security challenges. Just as importantly, you'll be someone who can build strong relationships and work collaboratively with people across the business.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in a similar hands-on cyber security role
  • Strong knowledge across identity and access management, incident response, encryption and network security
  • Hands-on experience across security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, DLP, NDR, WAF, vulnerability management, email security and cloud security
  • Experience with Microsoft security technologies including Microsoft Defender, Intune, Conditional Access, Purview and Azure AD
  • A strong understanding of modern attacker techniques and how organisations can detect and respond to them
  • Knowledge of NIST CSF, Essential Eight and CPS 234
  • A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport and contribute to a positive security culture.
  • Experience with technologies such as CrowdStrike, Netskope, Mimecast, Cisco ISE or Qualys would be a bonus, as would scripting or automation experience and certifications such as CompTIA Security+, SC-200, AZ-500 or MD-102.
