Working within Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job, it's about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch.

We currently have the following opportunity from November 2026: An exciting new opportunity has arisen, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, nurturing individual, who has a positive and solution focused attitude to join our team as a Class Teacher within our Intensive Support Provision (ISP).

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering a curriculum to support the needs of pupils with a range of severe and complex additional support needs. You will also provide essential support, ensuring the care, wellbeing, and health and safety of all pupils.

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team within the ISP, as well as with a range of partner agencies involved in supporting each child or young person. Our Intensive Support Provision has 3 classrooms - this role is within our newly established able pathway class.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children with a range of additional support needs, teaching and helping them to thrive and meet their full potential. You will be responsible for planning and delivering a curriculum to support the needs of a small group of pupils. Experience of SCERTS and Equals would be an advantage.

Skills & Experience Required: We are looking to appoint a nurturing and committed class teacher to join our welcoming school team from November 2026. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of planning and delivering a curriculum to support pupils within the area of additional support needs, however, values, mindset and transferable skills are equally important.

  • A genuine interest in the development of children, their communication, sensory needs and wellbeing is essential.
  • The important qualities are empathy, patience and an ability to engage with children and young people in a positive way.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be leading and working with support staff and a range of multi‑agency partners and parents/carers.
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate flexibility and understanding of approaches to meet a range of complex learner needs.
  • You should be able to demonstrate a range of teaching skills, qualities and enthusiasm to further develop and build on the valuable learner experiences within our Intensive Support Provision.
  • The successful candidate will be committed to continually enhancing knowledge and skills through working collegiately and through CPD.
  • The ability to work as part of the team is essential.

Previous experience of working within a provision or additional support needs setting would be an advantage. We use a variety of Augmentative Communication to support learners, so knowledge and understanding of this area would help, although not essential for the right candidate.

If you are positive, resilient, have individual learners at the heart of what you do and are able to adapt to change, then we would love to hear from you.
