We’re working with a growing, global financial services business to recruit a Legal Counsel for its Brisbane office.
The business works with Australian and international investment managers, providing the legal, regulatory and operational infrastructure that allows them to establish and manage investment funds.
This is an opportunity for a corporate or commercial lawyer to move in-house, broaden their experience and develop specialist expertise in funds management and financial services.
The role
Working alongside experienced senior lawyers, you’ll advise on a broad range of corporate, commercial and investment management matters.
The work will include:
- Drafting and negotiating corporate and commercial agreements.
- Assisting with the establishment and ongoing operation of investment funds.
- Reviewing and preparing fund documentation, including constitutions, investment management agreements and disclosure documents.
- Advising on financial services regulatory and compliance matters.
- Working directly with internal stakeholders and investment managers on legal and commercial issues.
- Supporting new business initiatives and transactions.
You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of matters while benefiting from the support and guidance of an experienced legal team.
About you
We’re interested in speaking with lawyers who have approximately 3–5 years' PAE, ideally with a background in corporate or commercial law.
You might be working in a law firm and considering your first in-house role, or already working in-house and looking for an opportunity to develop your career.
Experience in funds management or financial services would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
More important is a strong grounding in corporate or commercial law, good drafting skills and an interest in developing specialist expertise.
You’ll enjoy working closely with business stakeholders, have a practical approach to legal advice and be comfortable taking responsibility for your work.
