You’ve been in private practice for a few years now. You can handle a full caseload, but there’s a patient (maybe a few) who keeps coming back with the same problem, and it bugs you that you can’t work out why. You’re tired of 30-minute appointments that barely leave time to scratch the surface, and you know there’s another level to your clinical reasoning that you haven’t reached yet. If that sounds familiar, keep reading.
At People’s Physiotherapy, we’ve built a clinic around giving physios the time, mentorship and framework to solve the cases that others can’t, right across the road from the beach.
The Role:
- Full-Time Private Practice Physiotherapist
- 38 hour week
- Salary: $85,000- $100,000 + bonus structure
- Included paid documentation and admin time
- 0.5-1 day working off-site at an Adult Dance College, co-running a Dancer Injury Prevention and Treatment program
Who we are:
People’s Physiotherapy was founded by Mitch Wilson after 10 years of practicing and mentoring physiotherapists in leading clinics in Sydney and Vancouver. Mitch launched straight into private practice after university and worked in busy clinics training in Rehabilitation Pilates and the Connect Therapy Approach. Mitch spent 4 years in Vancouver working with Dr LJ Lee, an internationally renowned physiotherapist with a PhD on the thorax and founder of the Connect Therapy Approach.
A whole body framework for assessment and treatment. LJ’s physio clinic in Vancouver is known internationally for its assessment and treatment of the most complex musculoskeletal cases - many of which would fly in for assessment. At this clinic, Mitch worked with all types of bodies and conditions that didn’t respond as expected to treatment, and learnt to problem solve in a high-pressure environment. Mitch has consistently been employed to mentor physiotherapists at each practice he worked at, and found a real passion for teaching. He is still contracted to provide weekly mentorship to physiotherapists at other clinics in Sydney and New Zealand.
Mitch has treated complex cases for the majority of his career and has taught many physiotherapists to manage complex cases. This helped him to realise that what matters in the treatment room is the person attached to the problem. He has built his career on curiosity and problem solving and he built a clinic around this very simple idea - people first.
Who we’re after:
- A physiotherapist with a minimum 3 years private practice experience.
- Experience independently managing a full case-load.
- An interest in finding the root cause to a presenting problem, not just managing symptoms.
- An interest in working closely with a senior clinician regularly each week to improve their practice and achieve better, more sustainable results.
- Background in exercise/movement teaching.
What matters to us:
- Curious: They are comfortable saying "I don't know yet." They listen first and let their patient guide the session.
- Not satisfied with pain management: They want to know why it's happening, and it bugs them when they can’t figure it out.
- Motivated to empower patients: They help people understand their bodies and self-manage their injuries.
What you get:
- 8 weeks commencement training program - 40 paid hours of dedicated mentorship to fast track your clinical decision making, assessment and manual treatment skills. (This training is valued at $8,000+).
- Additional ongoing paid regular and structured one-on-one mentorship with a senior clinician to review cases and collaborate on assessment and treatment.
- A pathway to learning a framework for complex cases - no more staring down a patient with multiple presenting issues and not knowing where to start. You'll learn exactly how to assess multiple regions, prioritise what matters, and know your next step with confidence.
- Long appointment times. One-hour initial appointments, with minimum 45-minute follow-up.
- Private treatment rooms.
- A clinic right across the road from the beach, that values work-life balance.
- Use of Preve AI - medical transcription software for ease in clinical documentation and exercise prescription to minimise admin time as much as possible.
- Dedicated support to build your clinical identity and create referral pathways for your ideal patients.
- Access to an extensive resource library.
