$42-$47 per hour + Super | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity | Rowville

Australian Trade Qualified Fitter & Turner only need apply.

We're partnering with a highly respected engineering and manufacturing business in Melbourne's south-east to recruit an experienced Fitter & Turner for a long-term opportunity. This role offers an immediate start, competitive hourly rates, consistent weekday hours, and a genuine pathway to permanent employment for the right person.

This is not a production-line role. You'll be joining a skilled workshop team where quality workmanship, safety, and teamwork are highly valued. The business is investing heavily in its operations and equipment, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking for long-term stability and career security.

What's on Offer?

  • $42 to $47 per hour + Super
  • Temp-to-perm opportunity
  • Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm
  • Supportive and highly experienced team
  • Strong safety-first culture
  • Ongoing investment in new machinery and workshop improvements
  • Long-term career opportunity with succession planning in place

The Role

Working within a busy manufacturing workshop, you'll be responsible for a combination of manual machining, CNC machining, fitting and assembly duties.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating manual centre lathes and milling machines
  • Manual screw cutting and precision machining to close tolerances
  • CNC machine setup, operation and basic programming
  • Manufacturing and assembly of industrial cylinders and components
  • Material preparation and steel cutting
  • Quality inspections and testing of finished products
  • Workshop maintenance and machine upkeep
  • Following Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies
  • Maintaining a safe and organised work environment

The workshop operates across multiple functions, meaning you'll have the opportunity to work across machining, assembly and production activities rather than being confined to one area.

To be considered, you must have:

  • Australian-recognised Fitter & Turner trade qualification
  • Experience machining to close tolerances
  • CNC machining experience
  • Exposure to CNC programming and machine setup
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Excellent reliability and attendance record

Highly Regarded

Whilst not essential, the following will be viewed favourably:

  • Forklift Licence (LF)
  • Overhead Crane Licence
  • Working at Heights certification
  • Experience within a Lean Manufacturing or 5S environment
  • Experience within engineering, manufacturing or industrial workshops

Who Will Succeed?

The technical skills are important, but the successful candidate will also be:

  • A genuine team player
  • Willing to learn and adapt
  • Safety-focused
  • Hands-on and proactive
  • Comfortable working within an experienced trades team
  • Looking for a long-term opportunity rather than a short-term contract

If you're an Australian Trade Qualified Fitter & Turner with strong manual machining experience and CNC exposure, we'd love to hear from you.
