We're Hiring: APS5 Associate Software Engineer (Developer)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (initially onsite for the first 6 weeks)
Start Date: 1 January 2027
Contract: 12 months, with potential extensions up to 24 months
Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Baseline clearance
We're looking for a motivated Associate Software Engineer (APS5 level) to join an exciting opportunity with Services Australia.
This is a great opportunity for developers who enjoy writing quality code, solving technical problems and contributing to the development and maintenance of software applications in a large-scale government environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Develop, test and maintain software applications.
- Write clean, efficient and maintainable code.
- Assist with software design, development and implementation.
- Perform unit testing, debugging and code improvements.
- Support application maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Investigate technical issues and help drive solutions.
- Work closely with senior developers and other technical team members.
- Follow established development standards, processes and security practices.
What we're looking for:
- Hands-on experience in programming and software development.
- Understanding of software development principles and coding standards.
- Experience with testing, debugging and maintaining applications.
- Ability to investigate and resolve application-related issues.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and work collaboratively within a team.
- Previous experience in government or a large enterprise environment would be an advantage.
