About the Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to commence their Apprenticeship as a Saw Technician (Saw Doctor) at our Imbil Timber Mill.
You will work on a Full-Time basis on day shift, Monday - Friday, learning a variety of skills. The certificate requires 26 units of competency, covering 7 core units, plus, 19 elective units. At the successful completion of your 3-year Apprenticeship, you will have earned a Certificate III in Saw Technology. This role requires the ability to attend training in Victoria, in your second and third years, for 3 weeks.
Your apprenticeship will see you trained and assessed in a variety of the following areas:
- Replace saw blades, knives and guides.
- Sharpen band saw, circular saw and tipped circular saw blades.
- Reconditioning of saw guides.
- Operate CNC equipment for grinding, tensioning and levelling blades
- Assess and maintain equipment performance.
- Learn to solder, weld and arc weld.
- Preventive maintenance tasks.
- Apply principals of blade design and sawing procedures.
To be successful in securing this role you will have:
- Completed Year 12 (preferred).
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- An interest in the timber industry.
- Attention to detail.
- Work well in a team environment.
- The ability to complete online course work throughout the year autonomously.
- Own vehicle.
