We have an opportunity for a Production Coordinator or Controller to join our team in North Sydney office in a parental leave contract role. Reporting to the Production Manager – Adults, NZ and BD, you will play an integral part in the production process of books and reprints.
What you will do:
- Manage the book production processes, ensuring titles are delivered to budget, deadlines and agreed quality levels.
- Creation and processing out of layout files and PDFs.
- Distribution of files to project editors and signing off material for print.
- Obtain quotes and negotiate with printers for non-grid titles to ensure best possible price and quality.
- Work across Adult, NZ and Business Development lists, on both print and ebook as well as reprints and POD as needed.
- Provide creative input and guidance to the supported publishing divisions.
- Managing both hard copy and digital archives, recalling files when needed.
- Updating of bibliographic system as required.
What you will bring:
- Previous production, publishing or design experience.
- Familiarity with Macintosh environment, including good working knowledge of the Adobe suite.
- Curiosity and possess organisational and numeracy skills.
- Deadline driven and able to manage competing priorities.
- Attention to detail and able to work both independently and as a part of a team.
