Most finance roles ask you to keep the machine running. This one asks you to make it better.
If you’re the accountant who spots the clunky spreadsheet everyone has quietly put up with for years, and can’t help fixing it, read on.
The business
Our client is an established global business that operates in the renewable energy sector. Behind it sits more than 15 years of experience and a strong international footprint. Its Brisbane office is a close-knit, growing team with real energy and a clear purpose: helping to power the shift to a sustainable future.
The opportunity
Reporting to a highly regarded Finance Manager, you will own the core management accounting work. The real story is what comes next: internal projects, automation and making the finance function smarter, faster and more accurate.
Bring ideas and the drive to deliver them, and you’ll be given the space to do it, with results the whole business will see.
What you’ll be doing
Leading internal projects to improve finance systems, processes and controls
Automating workflows and building better reporting with Power Automate, Power BI and Xero
Preparing monthly and quarterly reporting, cashflow reporting and variance analysis
Supporting month-end and year-end close and owning balance sheet reconciliations
Supporting budgets and forecasts, and giving senior leaders commercial insight on investment and growth decisions
Preparing lender reporting, monitoring covenants and maintaining debt service schedules (project finance experience most accountants never get near)
Preparing payroll and supporting BAS and statutory compliance
Presenting your reporting and insights to the Finance Manager and CEO
Mentoring junior members of the finance team
What you’ll bring
Experience working in commercial finance, with a real understanding of how finance supports the broader business, not purely transactional or statutory reporting experience
CA or CPA qualified, or in your final stages
Ownership and initiative: you take responsibility for your work, find problems and solve them without being chased
The preparation and polish to present confidently to senior leaders
An approachable, collaborative style and a knack for building relationships
Experience with Xero, Power BI or Power Automate is highly regarded
Energy experience is not essential. Skills and attitude matter far more here.
What’s in it for you
2 days working from home each week
A great CBD office
A vibrant, close-knit team that genuinely enjoys working together, with regular events and activities
A flexible, adaptable environment where your ideas are heard
Project finance and automation skills that will set your CV apart
Real purpose: your work helps power the clean energy transition
