Registered Nurse

About the Role

Path to Independence is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to help develop the clinical capability of our disability support workforce.

This hands‑on role combines clinical training, competency assessment, care plan development, compliance and direct clinical support across our Supported Independent Living services.

You will train and assess Support Workers and Team Leaders, maintain competency records and help develop practical systems that support safe, consistent and high‑quality participant care.

Why Join Us?

If you are passionate about raising the standard of disability care, developing Support Workers and building strong clinical systems, this could be the role for you.

Path to Independence is a young, rapidly growing organisation, and we are at an important stage of our development. As we continue to grow, we are investing in the systems, care plans, clinical governance and workforce training needed to ensure the quality of our services grows with us.

We are looking for an RN who wants to help us set the standard, not simply follow an established training program. You will have the opportunity to help develop high‑quality participant care plans, strengthen clinical processes and deliver practical training and competency assessments across our workforce.

Our environment is fast‑paced, collaborative and down‑to‑earth. We value people who understand their role, take ownership of their responsibilities and work well as part of a team. Our office culture is relaxed and supportive, but when there is work to be done, we work together and get it done.

If you are systems‑driven, clinically confident and passionate about improving the quality and consistency of disability support, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clinical training, competency assessments and staff sign‑offs.

  • Develop and review participant‑specific care plans and clinical documentation.

  • Train and assess Team Leaders through our Train‑the‑Trainer approach.

  • Maintain training and competency registers and coordinate refresher training.

  • Identify gaps and improve clinical training and compliance systems.

  • Provide clinical guidance to Support Workers and Team Leaders.

  • Provide rostered clinical and participant support when required.

Training may include:

  • Complex Bowel and Wound Care

  • Diabetes and Insulin Management

  • PEG and Enteral Feeding

  • Dysphagia and Respiratory Supports

  • Stoma and Catheter Care

  • Tracheostomy and Ventilation Management

  • Other participant‑specific high‑intensity supports

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

  • Minimum 2 years' post‑registration nursing experience

  • Experience with complex or high‑intensity health supports

  • Experience training, coaching or assessing staff

  • Strong clinical documentation and care planning skills

  • Knowledge of disability/SIL services

  • Strong communication, organisational and computer skills

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening, Police Check, First Aid and CPR

  • Queensland Driver Licence and reliable vehicle

Highly regarded: Disability/SIL experience, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), and knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards.

What We Offer

  • $50–$60 per hour + applicable penalties

  • Company fuel card for work‑related travel

  • Casual role with potential to transition to full‑time

  • Flexible working arrangements

  • Supportive, collaborative and fast‑paced team

  • Opportunity to help build our clinical systems and set standards as we grow
