Discover the Opportunity...

Are you a seasoned quality and compliance professional with deep expertise in ISO management systems and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification?

We are seeking a dedicated Quality and Compliance Manager to join our team at the Opal Australian Paper Maryvale site.

In this critical site-based role, your primary focus will be maintaining, auditing, and safeguarding our key certifications, accreditations, and systems.

You will lead our internal audit programs, track and document our ongoing compliance evidence, and ensure site audit-readiness at all times.

What you'll be doing...

  • Ensuring ongoing compliance across ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and FSC Chain of Custody certifications to protect critical site operations, market access, and customer trust.
  • Leading external certification audits (acting as the primary site contact for ISO and FSC auditing bodies), while maintaining full site readiness so that our systems, documentation, and processes are continuously audit-proof.
  • Taking ownership for a comprehensive internal audit schedule across all operational departments to evaluate compliance, identify gaps, and document evidence of ongoing adherence.
  • Maintaining detailed records, registers, and operational evidence mapping out exactly what the site is doing to meet each specific ISO and FSC requirement.
  • Completing robust root-cause analysis for any identified non-conformances or operational deficiencies, partnering with site teams to verify the execution and long-term effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Providing clear, independent reporting on audit findings, compliance status, system performance, and emerging risk areas to site leadership.

What You Will Bring...

  • Subject matter expertise in ISO management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and FSC Chain of Custody certification standards within a complex manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Formal Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualifications, with extensive hands‑on experience leading internal audit programs and hosting third‑party certification bodies.
  • A proven track record of auditing for ongoing compliance, mapping compliance frameworks to daily operations, and ensuring complete audit preparedness.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to identifying gaps, executing CAPAs, and closing out audit findings.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate with and influence operational teams across departments to embed a strong culture of compliance and accountability.

What Opal can offer you...

  • A high-visibility role where your compliance expertise directly protects and supports critical business operations.
  • The opportunity to lead key certification initiatives and drive system excellence.
  • Working with a dedicated team committed to operational quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
