Airport Operations Officer (Ref: 1118)
About the position
Geraldton Airport is the aviation gateway to the Midwest, and we're looking for a reliable, hands‑on person to help keep it running safely and securely every day.
This is a genuine development role if you've got sound judgement, a strong work ethic and the aptitude to learn, we'll fast track your aviation career.
You'll hit the ground running if you already hold some core aviation airport credentials, but alternatively, you don't need to arrive with a folder full of aviation certificates.
You do need to be the kind of person we can trust with safety and security - critical work, who picks up new systems quickly and takes pride in doing the job properly.
Reporting to the Coordinator Airport Operations, you'll provide operational support to ensure the safe and secure operation of the airfield in accordance with the Airport operational processes, relevant standards, and legislation.
This is a full-time permanent position.
Please note that applicants with transferable experience from emergency services, security, technical, trade, or other safety-focused environments are encouraged to apply.
Key accountabilities
- Provide a level of professional assistance in achieving the objectives of the Geraldton Airport in accordance with statutory regulations as required by Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Office of Transport Security and Local Government Act.
- Ensure continuity of Airport Security by providing Vendor and Customer support through maintenance and repair of security equipment.
- Provide assistance in maintaining Airport infrastructure and grounds.
- Participate in risk assessments and take corrective action to report and eliminate hazards in the workplace.

- Good communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, basic written reports.
- A current C Class Driver’s Licence.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
Applicants who do not already hold the required aviation credentials will be supported by a structured, on‑the‑job development plan during their first 12 months.
This plan will provide the opportunity to obtain the core credentials for the role, including the Aerodrome Reporting Officer (ARO) Certificate, CASA Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC), Aviation and Air Cargo Security Awareness Training, an HR Class Driver’s Licence, and wildlife hazard management competencies.
Completion of a pre‑employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
