Otway Precast and Colac Mobile Cranes is entering an exciting new chapter, and we're looking for the right person to help lead the way. We're preparing for a major expansion, relocating to a new facility featuring almost 4,000m² of manufacturing space on a 12-acre site. This investment will allow us to expand our heavyweight precast manufacturing capabilities, increase production capacity and pursue larger, more complex projects.

We're seeking an experienced, motivated and commercially minded Operations Manager who wants more than just another management role. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of two established businesses and play a key role in their next stage of growth.

The Opportunity

Working directly with the Director, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day operations of Otway Precast and Colac Mobile Cranes, overseeing precast manufacturing, crane hire, transport and installation activities. You'll also play an important role in establishing our new manufacturing facility, contributing to production layouts, equipment selection, operational systems, workforce planning and the development of efficient manufacturing processes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading Operations
    • Manage daily operations across precast manufacturing, crane hire, transport and installation.
    • Coordinate production schedules, crane bookings, labour, equipment and resources.
    • Maximise productivity, equipment utilisation and operational efficiency.
    • Oversee plant maintenance, workplace safety, quality and compliance.
  • Building Our Future
    • Help plan, establish and commission our new manufacturing facility.
    • Contribute to factory layouts, equipment selection, production workflows and staffing requirements.
    • Develop operational systems and processes to support increased production capacity.
    • Support the expansion of heavyweight precast manufacturing and delivery of larger projects.
  • Leading People & Performance
    • Lead, motivate and develop our manufacturing, crane operations and support teams.
    • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork and high performance.
    • Utilise ERP software to manage scheduling, purchasing, resources, production and operational reporting.
    • Monitor operational costs, productivity and business performance while identifying opportunities for improvement.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a practical, confident leader with the drive to make things happen. You'll ideally bring:

  • Proven operations management experience in manufacturing, construction, engineering, heavy industry or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent planning, scheduling and resource management capabilities.
  • Experience using ERP software and digital management systems.
  • Commercial awareness and a strong focus on productivity and profitability.
  • The ability to develop and improve operational systems and processes.
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach with excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in precast concrete manufacturing, crane hire or heavy lifting would be highly regarded, but the right leadership qualities, attitude and experience are equally important.

Why Join Us?

Because opportunities to help shape a business through a major expansion don't come along every day.

  • Be Part of Something Bigger: Help establish a new manufacturing facility and shape the next chapter of our growth.
  • Make a Real Impact: Have a genuine influence on how our businesses operate, develop and succeed.
  • Ownership & Autonomy: Work directly with the Director and take responsibility for delivering results.
  • Variety & Challenge: Lead operations across two complementary businesses with diverse projects and activities.
  • Build for the Future: Help develop our people, equipment, systems and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Long-Term Career Opportunity: Join established businesses investing in their future, with an attractive remuneration package reflecting your experience.

Ready to Help Build What's Next? If you're an experienced operations leader who thrives on challenges, enjoys developing people and wants to play a meaningful role in growing a business, we'd love to hear from you.

We're not just expanding our facilities. We're building the next chapter of our businesses — and you could help lead it.
