Engineer (Civil) PO3 - Heavy Vehicle Permits
Osborne Richardson are delighted to be partnering with our transport-focused State Government colleagues on the Gold Coast for a cracking Engineer (Civil) opportunity, right in our home patch at Nerang.
What you'll be doing
- Assessing allocated heavy vehicle permit applications through the NHVR portal: checking vehicle details, proposed routes and supporting information, and chasing clarification where needed
- Undertaking engineering route assessments that consider vehicle dimensions and mass, road geometry, intersection turning movements, clearances, infrastructure constraints and traffic impacts
- Preparing detailed assessment notes and recommending access conditions or reasons for refusal for Senior Engineer review, then communicating approved outcomes through the portal
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to clarify route constraints and coordinate specialist technical advice
- Applying the relevant legislation, engineering standards, policies and quality procedures, and keeping assessment records accurate and complete
- Managing your assessments within timeframes, escalating complex or higher-risk matters, and helping improve team processes
What we're looking for
- A four-year, Washington Accord accredited Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), or an equivalent assessed and accepted by Engineers Australia
- A current Class C driver's licence and your own suitable PPE
- The ability to apply civil engineering principles to route assessments: vehicle dimensions and mass, road geometry, turning movements, clearances and infrastructure constraints
- Knowledge of heavy vehicle legislation, standards and guidelines, or the ability to pick it up quickly
- Sound analytical judgement to identify risks and constraints and develop reasoned recommendations
- Clear written communication, including detailed assessment notes and professional correspondence
- Strong organisation to prioritise a steady flow of applications and meet assessment timeframes
What's on offer: Up to $74.00 per hour + super on a flexible full-time contract from 30 November 2026 to 30 June 2027, with possible extension, based at Nerang on the Gold Coast. No RPEQ required.
