About Orygen

Orygen is Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health and the largest translational research organisation dedicated to youth mental health in the world. For over 30 years, Orygen has led groundbreaking early intervention and developed evidence-based models of care to improve the mental health outcomes of young people aged 12-25.

About the job

A new role at a pivotal time. Orygen’s primary clinical network is growing – a new headspace centre, a relocation, two headspace plus conversions and new service models on the horizon. As a member of our Senior Leadership Team, you’ll lead that growth and shape what comes next for young people across Melbourne’s north and west. You’ll lead five direct reports and a large workforce and also sit on senior leadership groups. In 2027 alone, you’ll oversee the Craigieburn headspace relocation, the opening of headspace Moonee Valley and the start of Melton’s headspace plus uplift.

Reporting to the Chief of Clinical Operations, you will:

  • Lead six headspace centres and two specialist programs
  • Open Moonee Valley and deliver headspace plus expansion
  • Shape and scale new primary clinical service models
  • Build and lead a high-performing management team
  • Own budget, contracts, performance and clinical risk

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Tertiary clinical qualification and AHPRA registration (or equivalent)
  • Senior leadership of multi-site mental or community health services
  • Proven record establishing or growing new services
  • Strong financial acumen and data-driven decision-making
  • Trusted relationships with funders, PHNs and partners

Benefits

$210,000 base salary + superannuation, $15,900 in NFP salary packaging + $2,650 meals and entertainment card. Senior Leadership Team seat with organisation-wide influence. Build new services through a major growth phase. Hybrid work across Parkville and our community sites. Work alongside world-leading youth mental health research.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Applications will close on Sunday 22 November, unless a suitable candidate is found sooner.

Before applying at Orygen, it’s important to understand that you may encounter sensitive information related to mental health as part of your work. Being aware of this and how it could affect you is essential in deciding if this is the right opportunity for you.
