About Opteon
Opteon is building toward being the leading independent global property solutions provider, powered by innovation, data intelligence and technology.
We provide value for our customers through trusted advice, insights and solutions, enabled by global thinking and local expertise.
Our ANZ Engineering team builds and evolves the global platforms that underpin that work.
We operate under a product operating model: small teams that own outcomes, learn fast from evidence, and use AI systematically to go further.
The role
This is a senior individual contributor role within the ANZ Engineering team, contributing to our US platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with US-based colleagues to lead complex initiatives with real autonomy, champion rapid, evidence-based learning, and coach other Product Engineers to work the same way.
You won’t just consume a prioritised backlog — what you learn will shape the roadmap.
- What you’ll do
- Own outcomes end to end.
- Lead delivery on complex product problems with clear accountability for measurable business results.
- Build robust solutions.
Design and implement across our legacy and modern platforms, and release safely through CI/CD with the right testing, monitoring and operational follow-through.
- Drive discovery. Use user and problem research, prototypes and technical spikes to make clear go/no-go calls before scaling up.
- Embed product thinking. Bring hypothesis-driven delivery and outcome metrics into team rituals and stakeholder conversations.
- Coach and share. Mentor Product Engineers and peers on discovery, product operating model behaviours and technical craft; share reusable assets and patterns across teams.
- Challenge the feature factory. Call it out constructively and propose outcome-based alternatives.
- Lead with AI.
Model productive use of agentic coding tools (e. g.
Cursor, Claude Code), experiment with new technologies and agentic approaches, and help set standards for safe, effective AI-assisted development.
- What you’ll bring
- 6+ years delivering software professionally at scale, ideally in a fast-paced or evolving environment
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Willingness to work reasonable flexible cross-over hours with a US-based team to facilitate strong communication and collaboration
- Full Australian working rights
- Strong PHP and C# skills across Laravel and . NET Core / . NET 8+
- Hands-on, everyday proficiency with agentic AI coding assistants, and a solid grasp of agentic AI concepts and systematic solutions
- Hands-on experience with AWS (RDS, IAM, S3, ECS, Beanstalks, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with modern reactive front-end frameworks (especially Vue3) and Java Script / Type Script
- Experience designing and querying relational databases (Postgres, My SQL)
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions or Jenkins)
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
- Experience in a product operating model organisation, or similar
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Why Opteon
- Real ownership and autonomy over meaningful, complex problems
- A team that works under a product operating model and uses agentic AI every day, with room for you to push both further
- Influence beyond your own team through coaching and shared technical patterns
- Flexible working, work from the office, home or both
