At LeafyColl, we're developing new lettuce varieties with improved commercial traits using CRISPR-Cas genome editing, and I'm looking for a scientist to take real ownership of this programme.
The role covers the full pipeline: identifying candidate genes, designing editing constructs, Agrobacterium-mediated lettuce transformation, tissue culture and shoot regeneration, through to sequence-confirmed edited plants.
Our primary requirement is proven hands-on success in generating and molecularly validating genome-edited plants, ideally lettuce (Lactuca sativa).
This could suit a fresh PhD, postdoc or industry scientist ready to move into a startup and see their work go from bench to market.
What we offer:
- 18-month fixed-term contract, extendable, with potential to become permanent
- Scientific ownership of a high-impact programme
- A small, fast-moving and collaborative team in Cambridge
- Work with leading academic and industry partners
