Canberra Allergy is a growing practice dedicated to helping patients understand, manage, and improve their allergic and immunologic conditions. Our GP Allergists work within a broader multidisciplinary network that includes adult and paediatric immunologists, paediatricians, experienced allergy dietitians and specialist allergy nurses. We are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centred care, while fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across our network of healthcare professionals.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team and contribute to the continued growth of Canberra Allergy. Previous allergy nursing experience is not essential. We welcome Registered Nurses with general clinical experience who are eager to learn, develop their skills and build a rewarding career in allergy medicine.

About the Role

Working closely with our GP Allergists, nursing team and wider multidisciplinary network, you will play an important role in supporting patients through their allergy assessment, testing, and treatment. You will have opportunities to learn from experienced allergy nurses and other healthcare professionals, develop your clinical knowledge, and build confidence in allergy-specific procedures and patient management. This role may particularly suit a nurse who is looking to broaden their clinical experience, pursue further professional development or, over time, explore opportunities to develop their leadership skills. This is a permanent full-time or part-time position requiring a minimum of four days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for consultations, allergy testing, and clinical procedures.
  • Perform skin prick testing, food challenges and other clinical tasks following appropriate training and competency assessment.
  • Monitor patients during and after procedures, recognising and responding appropriately to adverse reactions.
  • Support the safe delivery of treatments in accordance with clinical protocols and relevant guidelines.
  • Provide clear patient education and support throughout the care journey.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention, equipment safety, and clinical room preparation.
  • Assist with clinical stock management and equipment checks.
  • Work collaboratively with our GP allergists and broader team to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Contribute to clinical quality improvement and the ongoing development of practice procedures.

About You

You are a caring, reliable and organised Registered Nurse who enjoys working with patients and being part of a collaborative team. You are eager to learn and committed to providing safe, high-quality care. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Previous nursing experience in general practice, critical care, and paediatrics (highly desirable).
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • A patient-centred approach and a genuine interest in helping people.
  • Sound clinical assessment skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to recognise and escalate clinical concerns appropriately.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A willingness to learn new clinical skills and follow established procedures.

Why Join Canberra Allergy?

  • Learn from experienced clinicians: Work alongside GP Allergists, experienced allergy nurses and a multidisciplinary network of adult and paediatric immunologists, paediatricians, and allergy dietitians.
  • Develop your clinical skills: Access training and opportunities to build your knowledge and confidence in allergy nursing, including allergy testing and patient management.
  • Invest in your career: Explore opportunities for ongoing professional development and further growth in clinical practice and leadership.
  • Make a meaningful difference: Support adults and children in understanding and managing their allergic conditions.
