We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator for a contract opportunity supporting a large Federal Government agency.
The immediate priority is supporting critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations, alongside specialist database administration across SQL Server, Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.
You will work closely with agency technical teams to plan, test and implement controlled changes, maintain data integrity and availability, and strengthen database performance and resilience.

- Deliver critical MongoDB upgrades and migrations in an enterprise environment
What you’ll do
- Assess database environments and identify upgrade, compatibility, performance and operational risks.
- Plan, validate and implement database upgrades and migrations while minimising downtime.
- Provide performance tuning, replication, backup, recovery and production support.
- Support databases in containerised environments and manage associated deployment and operational risks.
- Document configuration changes, upgrade procedures, risks and lessons learned.
- Support knowledge transfer and skills development within agency teams.
What you’ll bring
- Expert-level SQL Server administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability and security.
- Expert-level administration of Db2 z/OS and Db2 Midrange.
- Expert-level MongoDB administration, including replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning and data consistency.
- Demonstrated experience delivering controlled database upgrades and migrations.
- Hands-on experience supporting databases in containerised environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience in complex government or enterprise ICT environments, and supporting technical knowledge transfer, will be highly regarded.
