The student population is approximately 510, with 10.6% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and less than 2% of students from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background. The school also includes three support unit classes.

Banora Point High School enjoys strong partnerships with the Tweed Wollumbin Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (TWAECG), as well as universities, cultural institutions, local businesses and community organisations. Students have represented the school across the North Coast region and the state in dance, music, sport and youth leadership programs.

The school has strengthened its commitment to improving student performance, learning culture, and well-being by building teacher capacity in learning and development, curriculum, and effective classroom practice. The school's core values are Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness to Learn. These values form the foundation of the school's culture of inclusivity and diversity. The focus on every student making measurable learning progress has been driven by continuous improvements in educational leadership.
