The Role

National and International best practice in forensic mental health care and recovery recognises the need for recovery orientated principles to co-exist with offence specific rehabilitation.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 (CNC2) - Forensic Rehabilitation provides expert leadership in the delivery of forensic specific mental health rehabilitation that is both trauma-informed and recovery-oriented. Working in close partnership with the Forensic Rehabilitation and Psychology streams, the CNC2 advances contemporary clinical practice by promoting patient access to evidence-based supports that enhance understanding of the complex relationship between mental health needs and individual behaviour.

The portfolio drives innovation and excellence in care through the implementation of quality improvement and research initiatives, as well as the development, review and evaluation of clinical guidelines, protocols and policies that reflect best practice in mental health and forensic rehabilitation. The CNC2 also plays a pivotal role in supporting Justice Health NSW to achieve key performance targets and fulfil strategic commitments under Performance Agreements with the NSW Ministry of Health.
