About the role/What you’ll be doing

Kick-start your career in biostatistics by joining the highly regarded NSW Biostatistics Training Program! This unique, three-year, workplace-based program provides hands‑on experience in biostatistics and the opportunity to make a real impact in public health. As a Trainee Biostatistician, you will complete supervised work placements within the NSW health system, gaining specialist skills, and learning from experts in the field. You will also complete a fully funded Master of Biostatistics degree part‑time through the University of Sydney. Current Master of Biostatistics students are encouraged to apply.

Traineeships commence on 9 February 2027. More information on the NSW Biostatistics Training Program is available on the program website.

  • An aptitude for advanced mathematical work, demonstrated through previous study or work experience. Due to the competitive nature of these traineeships, relevant work experience in a data‑related field is highly desirable.

  • High-level knowledge of statistical concepts and methods.

  • Extensive experience using statistical software packages.

  • The right to work in Australia for the duration of the traineeship. You must be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident; a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport; or a citizen of another country with a valid visa that allows you to work in Australia until at least 9 February 2030.
