What you'll be doing
The Clinical Ethics Support Service (CESS) Project Manager will establish this service, including development of a Model of Care; supporting policies, procedures and guidelines; and strategic and communications plans.
Health care is complex, multi-disciplinary, and serves a socially, culturally, and morally diverse community. Ethics is an integral part of healthcare - both at the clinical interface, and in the design and governance of health care services. Often health professionals address these ethical aspects of care appropriately in ways that are consistent with the values, perspectives, and needs of the community. However, Clinical Ethics Services can provide guidance and support and enhance the quality and safety of health care, particularly during times of profound social, scientific, and regulatory change.
This CESS will provide an adjunct and support for health professionals and their patients, their families, and caregivers navigating the ethically complex issues that arise in health care, sometimes leading to moral distress and burnout. This CESS will provide organisational support for the identification and management of ethical issues arising in the design and delivery of health care and in building and sustaining an ethical culture within NSLHD.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Consistently demonstrate behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation - Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders including colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers and those that care for them.
- A degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience in senior management or leadership in complex health care settings, including as related to quality improvement initiatives.
