About the Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), you will bring advanced clinical expertise and professional leadership to the delivery of specialised mental health assessment, therapeutic intervention and care coordination for children, young people and their families and carers.
Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute your specialist occupational therapy knowledge to clinical discussions, comprehensive assessments and individualised treatment planning, partnering with experienced allied health, nursing and medical professionals to achieve meaningful outcomes for children, young people and their families.
Our model of care encompasses specialised child and adolescent mental health and family-based assessments, alongside individual, dyadic and family therapy interventions. You will have the opportunity to further strengthen your expertise in specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic practice, while contributing the unique perspective of occupational therapy to holistic, family-centred care.
In addition to your advanced clinical responsibilities, you will provide professional leadership across the CAMHS Occupational Therapy Network, fostering a strong and connected professional community through orientation, mentoring, clinical guidance, professional development and appropriate supervision arrangements. This includes providing direct professional supervision to Occupational Therapists across the service, where required, and supporting the ongoing development and consistency of occupational therapy practice.
Offering an exciting blend of advanced clinical practice and discipline-specific leadership, this position provides an opportunity to shape and strengthen occupational therapy services across CAMHS, influence professional practice and contribute to continuous service development.
You will be supported through direct line management and operational guidance from the Greater Newcastle CAMHS Team Leader, with additional strategic oversight and input from the CAMHS Service Manager and dedicated professional support from the Head of Discipline – Occupational Therapy.
Joining an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team, you will benefit from strong connections across the CAMHS Occupational Therapy Network, regular clinical and professional supervision, comprehensive orientation and access to ongoing education and professional development opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to service improvement initiatives while continuing to expand your advanced clinical capabilities and professional leadership experience.
