The Office of the Registrar General (ORG) oversees the integrity, security, availability and performance of the NSW land title system. We maintain the policy and legislative framework that supports clearly defined property rights across NSW. Operating at the intersection of law, technology and regulation, we oversee plan and title operations, drive the digital transformation of the land title system, and safeguard the accuracy and integrity of the State cadastre, with customers at the centre of our decision-making.
We have an opportunity for a Candidate Surveyor to join our Cadastral Integrity team at the Office of the Registrar General, reporting to the Managing Surveyor. This role will see you conducting audits of registered deposited plans and registered land surveyors, and other cadastral survey work to help protect the integrity of the NSW State cadastre and maintain the security of the Torrens Title system.
You will be rewarded with a challenging role and the opportunity to develop your surveying knowledge within the industry's Regulator. The role will require you to undertake field work, apply your well-developed surveying knowledge, and assemble, process and disseminate survey information. The right candidate will embrace teamwork, have strong computer skills, be willing to develop skills in new areas and use complex mathematical and analytical problem-solving skills. ORG is looking for someone who can prioritise work in a high-volume environment to meet competing demands with conflicting and critical deadlines in order to maintain high-quality outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Surveying or equivalent.
- Eligible as a BOSSI Candidate Surveyor for Registration as a Land Surveyor in NSW.
- Current NSW driver's license and ability and willingness to travel throughout the state when required.
The role will involve:
- Assisting the Audit Surveyor in monitoring the performance standards of the Land Titles Registry plan examination process and industry compliance with relevant legislation and surveying standards.
- Applying well-developed surveying knowledge and analytical skills in a complex digital environment to assemble, process and disseminate survey information.
- Searching land title and plan records to assemble information that enables field surveys to be undertaken.
- Undertaking survey audits and field inspections as required for quality assurance of recently registered plans and in response to issues with plans on public record.
- Conducting survey field work, processing field observations and carrying out calculations to resolve survey problems.
- Drafting survey plans for registration and preparing sketches and survey reports.
- Identifying amendment action items in registered deposited plans and preparing correspondence to be sent to surveyors.
- Adhering to Department of Customer Services' Work Health and Safety policies and procedures in the field and office.
