You're a naturally proactive person and don't wait for someone else to point out a problem before jumping in to solve it. The finer details matter to you, and you don't let anything slip through the cracks. You've got eyes like a hawk when it comes to spotting potential hazards and a proactive approach to making sure they're addressed before they become bigger problems. But you're also a people person. You know that effective safety management isn't achieved by simply enforcing rules - it's about building relationships, having conversations and helping people understand why safety matters. You're comfortable speaking up when something isn't right, but know how to approach those conversations in a practical and constructive way. You're looking for a role where you can take ownership, work across different areas of the business and make a tangible contribution to improving workplace safety every single day.

Novus Precast is a leading Queensland manufacturer of structural precast concrete products. For us, workplace health and safety is not just about policies, paperwork and ticking boxes. It’s about looking out for our people, identifying risks before they become problems, and making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day. We’re looking for an experienced WHS Coordinator to join our Toowoomba team. Working closely with our Head of Quality, you’ll play an important role in keeping safety front of mind across our factory and office environments. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on the floor as much as they enjoy keeping our systems, documentation and compliance in order. You’ll work alongside our teams to educate and build understanding, proactively follow up on actions and help turn safety requirements into everyday practice.

The Role

No two days will look the same, but your focus will be on keeping our workplace safe, compliant and continually improving. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing WHS incident reports, investigations and corrective actions through to completion.
  • Conducting regular workplace inspections and WHS audits to identify hazards and manage risks.
  • Monitoring unsafe practices and working with relevant team members to address issues.
  • Keeping WHS policies, procedures, records and documentation accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinating with our Head Office WHS team to maintain compliance and consistent standards.
  • Helping train and guide team members on their WHS responsibilities.
  • Supporting audit preparation, compliance reviews and ongoing improvement of our systems.
  • Working collaboratively with department heads and teams to promote a positive, accountable safety culture.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar WHS role.
  • A sound understanding of WHS legislation, workplace risk management and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and managing corrective actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with people at all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Confidence working across both office and factory environments.
  • A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and a current First Aid certificate would be advantageous, but we're open to someone willing to obtain these qualifications.
  • Experience in manufacturing or a similar operational environment would also be highly regarded.

What you’ll get out of it

  • A role with real impact: Your work will directly contribute to the safety of our people and shape the way we operate.
  • Variety in your day: Enjoy a balance of time on the factory floor, engaging with our teams and managing the systems that keep us compliant.
  • Room to take ownership: Have the opportunity to bring your ideas, identify improvements and take responsibility for driving them through.
  • A business that's growing: Join Novus at an exciting stage of growth, with major projects underway and investment in our people and facilities.
