The Department of Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.

Operating in the Barkly Region, the Mental Health Team provides specialist mental health services to clients, including case management, assessments, and therapeutic interventions.

As a Nursing Clinical Specialist in Mental Health, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking case management
  • Conducting mental health assessments
  • Providing therapeutic interventions with individuals, families, and communities

You will participate in the development of contemporary models of care, including new service models in response to NT Health and national mental health reforms. You will also be accountable for providing sound professional advice and education on mental health issues to clients and family members.

To be successful, you will be an accomplished MH Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and demonstrated recent clinical experience in mental health assessment, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, treatment, and rehabilitation methods in Mental Health Nursing.

In return, you will enjoy the benefits of competitive remuneration with salary packaging options, 12% Superannuation, six weeks recreational leave, and two weeks personal leave, along with opportunities for professional development in NT Health.

If you reside interstate, this is a great time to consider relocating to the Territory and moving to Tennant Creek, an authentic Outback town and home to over 3,000 people. Reward yourself with an enviable lifestyle and a work-life balance that allows you time to enjoy the many benefits of living in a regional town, including exploring Waramungu country, swimming at the Mary Ann Dam, four-wheel-driving through the Davenport Ranges, and visiting one of the Territory’s famous natural landmarks, the Devil’s Marbles.
