We are currently seeking an experienced Component Fitters to join our Clients Mackay workshop, joining a team of a long-established Australian business specialising in the supply, repair, reconditioning and overhaul of components for the mining, earthmoving, civil and construction industries.
With a history spanning more than 60 years, the business has built a strong reputation for supplying quality new, used and reconditioned components for major earthmoving equipment, including Caterpillar and Hitachi machinery. They operate substantial workshop facilities around the country, providing component rebuild, repair and reconditioning services to customers across the Australian mining and heavy equipment industries.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded tradesperson with experience in wheel end, final drive, axle, hub or related heavy equipment component overhauls.
Working within a well-equipped workshop, you will be responsible for the strip-down, inspection, repair, rebuild and testing of wheel end and associated components used on large earthmoving and mining equipment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Strip, inspect and rebuild wheel end components
- Diagnose wear, damage and component condition
- Replace bearings, seals, bushes and other components as required
- Measure components and identify tolerances and clearances
- Follow technical specifications and overhaul procedures
- Complete rebuilds to a high standard of quality and reliability
- Identify additional repair requirements during the overhaul process
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Work safely and efficiently within a professional workshop environment
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area

Heavy Vehicle, Light Vehicle, Mobile Plant, Diesel Fitting, Mechanical Fitting or similar trade qualification would be highly regarded.
