The Company & You

They are looking for a Technical Project Manager with a solid engineering background, who is an expert in MS Project and highly confident managing the client side. You will be the main point of contact for your jobs, managing expectations, scope, and variations while overseeing the technical aspects. You will report directly to the GM and work closely with the Directors, Estimating, the workshop, and the site fitters and techs.

This would suit a Project Engineer, Technical Account Manager or Project Manager who enjoys the relationship side of project management, is solution-focused, runs tight scheduling, and is ready to completely own their projects.

It's not FIFO. You'll be based regionally, Tumut, with some travel and time away depending on the project.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Scheduling: Build and run detailed schedules in MS Project using critical path method, resource levelling and dependency tracking.
  • Client liaison & negotiation: Act as the single point of contact for clients, managing expectations, scope creep and contract variations.
  • Technical review: Break down existing products and systems, find efficiencies, and turn the technical realities into realistic project timelines.
  • Project delivery: Run several jobs at once, from award to completion, on budget, on time and to quality.
  • Procurement & subbies: Line up materials, equipment and subcontractors to suit the program.
  • Cost control: Track costs and milestones, flag variances early, and support Estimating on pricing and variations.
  • Quality & documentation: Work within ISO 9001, ISO 3834 and AS/NZS 5131, and manage controlled documents, registers, revisions and client portals.
  • Site: Complete inductions for energy, industrial and major construction sites.

What You Need

  • A background in Project Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Technical Project Management in fabrication, mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • Expert MS Project skills, including CPM, resource levelling and dependency tracking. This is a must.
  • Confidence handling clients, negotiating variations and managing scope.

What's in It for You

  • $120,000 to $170,000 base + Super, depending on experience.
  • A vehicle and a bonus.
  • A permanent, full-time role reporting to the GM in a growing business that promotes from within.
  • Variety, from local fab jobs to major energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Not FIFO, with regional living without the Sydney or Canberra price tag.
