Electrical Engineer (Mid-Senior) | Design, Tech Support & Project Delivery
Client and Job:
You’ll be working with a leading engineering and manufacturing business to support machinery upgrades, plant improvements, and capital projects.
This is a varied role across project delivery, planning, electrical design, testing, installation, commissioning, and occasional PLC programming. It’s perfect for an engineer with sound knowledge of wiring diagrams, complex schematics, commissioning, and FAT, who is comfortable working with electricians, maintenance, production, suppliers, and customers to get projects delivered on time and within budget.
What you will be doing:
- Electrical design, drafting, commissioning support, and project delivery for plant upgrades, new equipment installs, and machine modifications.
- Working across mainly LV industrial electrical systems, with some MV / 11kV exposure depending on the project.
- Supporting electrical machine upgrades and new capital projects across a busy manufacturing site.
- Creating and updating electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and panel layouts.
- Cable sizing, MCCB selection, and protection coordination and selectivity across switchboards and motor circuits.
- Supporting arc flash hazard assessments and mitigation design.
- Strong focus and attention to Lean principles and Continuous Improvement.
- Helping reverse engineer machinery and equipment drawings where documentation is missing or out of date.
- Supporting FAT, SAT, testing, commissioning, fault finding, and handover documentation, including VSDs, soft starters, and switchboards.
- Preparing technical specifications, scopes of work, MDR documentation, Engineering Change Notices, and SWMS.
- Providing technical support to customers during project delivery and commissioning.
- Working closely with electrical engineers, project managers, electricians, maintenance, production, and suppliers.
- Exposure to 11kV, transformers, HV switchgear, or substations would be a big advantage.
What we are looking for:
- A Degree in Electrical, Automation Engineering, or similar.
- Experience across electrical engineering, automation, controls, and industrial electrical design.
- At least 5 years of experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical CAD software.
- Excellent communication skills, a practical approach, and the ability to work with trades and engineers.
