Working closely with reporters and editors, you’ll play a key role in how stories are presented across digital platforms. You’ll sharpen headlines, package content for online audiences, manage social media, produce newsletters, write app alerts, and use audience insights to improve performance. There will also be opportunities to contribute original reporting and break your own stories.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow The Weekly Times’ social media presence.
  • Produce engaging newsletters for subscribers.
  • Write clear, timely and effective app alerts.
  • Use audience data, SEO and digital trends to maximise story performance.
  • Contribute original reporting across digital and print.
  • Generate fresh ideas to grow audience reach and subscriptions.

Who are you?

  • Experience in a newsroom, digital publishing or a similar media environment.
  • Strong news judgement and excellent writing and editing skills.
  • A clear understanding of what makes an effective headline and how to package journalism for digital audiences.
  • Knowledge of social media best practice and audience engagement strategies.
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and confidently under tight deadlines.
  • Curiosity, initiative and a strong sense of what readers want.
  • Knowledge of agriculture and regional Australia is an advantage, but a willingness to learn is equally valued.

This is an opportunity to join Australia’s leading agricultural masthead at a pivotal time for the industry and for rural and regional Australia. If you’re passionate about breaking news, digital journalism and building audiences, we’d love to hear from you.
