  • Prepare preliminary design sketches, schedules and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with BIM, drafting and detailing teams to produce structural steel and prefabrication shop drawings.
  • Review steel detailing and drawings to ensure compliance with design intent and project requirements.
  • Support tendering activities, including steel take-offs, quantity measurements, pricing reviews and technical submissions.
  • Assist with procurement and coordination of steel fabricators, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor fabrication progress, quality and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with structural engineers to support design certification.
  • Provide technical support across workshop, site installation and project delivery activities.
  • Contribute to quality management, safety assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 2–5 years' experience in structural steel, mechanical services or construction engineering.
  • An understanding of engineering drawings, design coordination and technical documentation.
  • Experience with BIM and/or steel detailing software such as Revit, Tekla, Inventor or similar will be advantageous.
  • Exposure to prefabrication, modular construction, fabrication or steel detailing is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in developing tendering and estimating capability.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A current Australian driver's licence and the ability to travel to workshops and project sites when required.

Why Apply?

  • Broad technical exposure: Be involved in concept design, engineering coordination, tendering, procurement and project delivery.
  • Career development: Work closely with an experienced Design Manager and develop your technical and commercial capabilities.
  • Growing specialisation: Build experience in prefabrication and modular construction, an increasingly important part of modern construction delivery.
