Description
This position involves a combination of shop floor leadership, task coordination, interpreting engineering drawings, and providing hands-on support with complex steel fabrication tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate daily tasks for the production team on the shop floor.
- Read and interpret detailed structural and mechanical engineering drawings.
- Ensure quality control procedures are followed to meet AS/NZS standards.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, hazard identification, and proper use of PPE, cranes, and forklifts.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to achieve daily output and dispatch targets.
Skills & Experience
- Trade qualification as a Boilermaker, Welder, or Fitter & Turner (Cert III or above).
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a heavy manufacturing or steel workshop environment.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Current Forklift licence (LF) and experience operating overhead cranes; rigging or dogman tickets are advantageous.
