The National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER) helps promote better understanding and discussion within the vocational education and training (VET) sector, and assists policy makers, practitioners, industry, training providers, and students to make informed decisions. NCVER is a professional and independent body responsible for collecting, managing, analysing, evaluating, and communicating research and statistics about VET and the links between education and the labour market more generally.

In operation since 1981, NCVER is now embarking on a transformation to modernise its data collection and quality assurance methodology as part of the VET Data Streamlining program, designed to support the Commonwealth government’s National Skills Agreement. This transformation means that it is an exciting time to join NCVER as it prepares for the next phase of its evolution as the custodian of national VET data.

About the role: We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated Senior Quality Assurance Analyst to work as part of a small team responsible for the quality and integrity of national VET activity data being submitted to NCVER. The position will be responsible for implementing contemporary data quality practices, providing subject matter expertise on the national VET data collections to internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to the outcomes arising from the data quality action plan.

About you:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster productive relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality data-related advice and services.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently, manage time appropriately, prioritise workloads, and resolve conflicts with a constructive approach.
  • Experience with quality assurance of data through analysis, identification of relevant insights, and recommendation of appropriate action including awareness of any impact on downstream business areas or stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of contemporary data quality assurance framework, policies and procedures.
  • Relevant qualification and/or certification, or equivalent experience, in a discipline such as mathematics, statistics or data management.
  • Knowledge of the VET sector will be highly regarded.

A position description outlining full details of the role, including the knowledge, skills and experience we are seeking, is available on our Portal at about-ncver/careers/current-vacancies.

Ongoing role based in Adelaide (candidates in Sydney, Melbourne, or Canberra will be considered with regular travel to Adelaide required). Hybrid working arrangements. Gifted leave over Christmas shut down. Salary in the range of $110,000 - $120,000 (plus 12% superannuation), based on relative skills and experience.
